A little bit of love with every visit
Welcome to our little slice of Paradise in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, where the simple life thrives. Our cabin in named after our other favorite location, Costa Rica.
Pura vida (Pure life) is a tiny bit of wisdom that changes the way Costa Ricans look at the world. If you try it out, we’re willing to bet it will work for you too. Here a four ways to experience the life of a “Tico”:
- Focus on what’s important in life: Family, friends, sunsets and campfires are all worth more than electronic gadgets.
- Don’t sweat the small stuff
- Always take time to relax
- Don’t be in such a hurry: “Pura vida” also means to slow down a little. It’s not about showing up late to places; it’s about not looking at the clock in the first place.

Before & After
Efficiency & Design
We wanted to keep as much character from the original cabin as possible. We ripped out three layers of flooring to discover the beautiful hardwood floors beneith. The original siding was revealed when we removed the layer of paneling. This was where the door to the cabin was before the addition many years after it was built. It was designed to be a kitchen that is efficient with a nastalgic feel.
From Small to Tall
The Bunk room is one of my favorite places in the cabin. Once we cleared the room out we decided to see what was behind that drop ceiling and much to our surprise it was a clean, beautifully built, vaulted ceiling. We had a much different design idea when we first got in the cabin and so it all had to be rethought out. I just love how cozy and comfortable the area is. Even though its a small cabin the loft feels like it's only special hideaway. The queen bed below is extremely comfortable and makes it the perfect place for a couples weekend as well.
Go Jump in the Lake
This was by far our pride and joy. We knew that we would not be able to use the stairs or the dock that was currently at the cabin. It was not safe and was rotting away. We built in a whole new, more gradual stairway with a lookout tower that is built right into nature. The existing tree stump really came in handy. The new stairs attached one small part of the old existing dock that stretched over almost the entire beach. With that out we discovered that we have a beauiful sandy beach. With a little cleaning and care this area turned out beautiful.
Comfy & Harmonious
Relax on one of the two screened in porches. The backporch is perfect for your morning coffee and midday naps. The side porch is great for gathering together and evening relaxation.

Will definitely come back! Everything was well stocked, lots of games and outdoor activities. Nice fire pit and dock to enjoy the views of the lake. It was very peaceful. Hosts were very helpful with all my questions.

Nick and Chrissy were outstanding hosts. Their place is a slice of heaven. Everything we could have ever hoped for was always right in front of us. From the well stocked fire pit, kayaks and paddle boat. A picturesque lake and beautiful views.
They were super responsive and always willing to answer all of our questions. We were.allowed to check in early without even asking! The house is spotless, our family totally loved it! We will definitely be back. Check it out, you wont be disappointed!
